Under the Gracious Patronage of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, the Second Edition of the Conference on Building Bridges Between Islamic Schools of Thought and Sects to be Inaugurated in Makkah Tomorrow, Thursday, 6 March 2025.

Makkah:

Under the gracious patronage of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud—may Allah protect him—the second edition of the Global Conference, "Building Bridges Between Islamic Schools of Thought and Sects," is set to be inaugurated tomorrow, Thursday, in the holy city of Makkah. The conference, organized by the Muslim World League (MWL), will bring together senior muftis and scholars from diverse schools of thought and sects, representing over 90 countries.

This edition, themed "Towards an Effective Islamic Coalition," marks a significant step in strengthening Islamic unity. It aims to move beyond repetitive dialogues, focusing instead on practical initiatives to implement the Charter of Building Bridges Between Islamic Schools of Thought and Sects. The conference will also coordinate efforts to address shared challenges and threats, with the goal of establishing a systematic approach that translates into initiatives and projects promoting moderation while countering sectarian rhetoric and practices.

While the first edition of the conference and its unifying charter reflected Islam’s wisdom and inclusivity—establishing the foundation for coordinated efforts among moderate Islamic forces across various schools and sects to benefit the Islamic Ummah—this edition aims to build upon that work. In response to extremism and radicalism that have distorted the image of Islam, esteemed scholars, deeply rooted in knowledge, will convene at their shared Qibla to advance solidarity and cooperation, leaving behind past apprehensions and embracing the spirit of Islamic fraternity and its noble values.

On behalf of the scholars of the Ummah gathered from around the world in this blessed land of Makkah, the Muslim World League extends its profound gratitude and appreciation to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and to His Royal Highness Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman—may Allah safeguard them—for their unwavering efforts in serving Islam and Muslims, strengthening their unity, and upholding their dignity.
