The Muslim World League Welcomes British Court’s Conviction in Quran Desecration Case

Makkah:
The Muslim World League (MWL) has welcomed the decision of a British court in London to convict an individual who burned a copy of the Holy Qur’an and chanted slogans offensive to Islam.

In a statement issued by its General Secretariat, His Excellency Sheikh Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa, Secretary-General of the MWL and Chairman of the Organization of Muslim Scholars, commended the ruling, describing it as a commendable step and a model for upholding the true and civil understanding of freedom of expression.

His Excellency reaffirmed the MWL’s firm position against the misuse of the sacred right to freedom of expression to commit reprehensible acts against religious sanctities, provoke the sentiments of believers, or destabilize national unity. He underscored the dangers such actions pose in inciting hatred, division, and violence within societies, and emphasized the need for standing against efforts aimed at undermining social cohesion, both nationally and globally.
