This evening in Auckland, New Zealand:
Religious diversity leaders in New Zealand hosted H.E. Sheikh Dr. Mohammed Al-Issa , Secretary-General of the MWL and Chairman of the Organization of Muslim Scholars, at the Forum on Citizenship and Shared Living, attended by representatives of various faiths and a number of prominent community figures from across New Zealand.
H.E. underscored the importance of advancing preventive peace initiatives, fostering the values of understanding and cooperation, and cultivating shared awareness based on common principles, whether universal humanitarian values or national values that embrace the country’s diversity.
H.E. also highlighted a number of initiatives launched by the MWL, foremost among them the “Building Bridges Between East and West” initiative at the United Nations Headquarters in New York, and the “Protecting Global Youth from Extremist and Violent Ideologies” initiative at the United Nations Office in Geneva. He outlined the practical programs that followed these initiatives, as well as their measurable and tangible outcomes, while commending New Zealand society for its strong national cohesion and social solidarity.
