The Muslim World League Welcomes the Adoption by UNESCO of a Resolution on “The Impact and Consequences of the Current Situation in the Gaza Strip”

The Muslim World League (MWL) has welcomed the adoption of a resolution by the Executive Board of the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) during its 221st session, held in Paris, France. The resolution, entitled "The Impact and Consequences of the Current Situation in the Gaza Strip," addresses all aspects pertinent to UNESCO’s mandate.

In a statement issued by the General Secretariat of the MWL, His Excellency Sheikh Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa, Secretary-General of the MWL and Chairman of the Organization of Muslim Scholars, underscored the urgent need for the international community to fulfill its responsibilities by halting the grave violations committed by the Israeli occupation government against civilians and civilian infrastructure in the Gaza Strip. He called for an end to the targeting of United Nations bodies and organizations, the safeguarding of their ability to perform their missions in the Strip and across all occupied Palestinian territories, and for international pressure on the Israeli occupation government to comply with its obligations under international law and international humanitarian law.
