Makkah:
The Muslim World League (MWL) strongly condemns the reported plan by the Israeli occupation authorities to transfer the administration and oversight of the Ibrahimi Mosque in Hebron from the Palestinian Ministry of Awqaf and Religious Affairs and the Hebron Municipality to a settler council. This move constitutes a grave violation of international laws, conventions, and resolutions that safeguard the sanctity of religious sites and the rights of worshippers. It also represents a dangerous escalation that threatens regional stability and provokes the sentiments of Muslims around the world.
The MWL also strongly condemns the recent bombing of the Latin Church in Gaza, which tragically claimed innocent lives and left many others injured.
In a statement issued by its General Secretariat, His Excellency Sheikh Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa, Secretary-General of the Muslim World League and Chairman of the Organization of Muslim Scholars, denounced the occupying authorities’ continued disregard for the lives, dignity, and sanctity of the Palestinian people.
His Excellency stressed the urgent need for the international community to uphold its legal and moral obligations in response to these ongoing violations, calling for immediate and effective measures to halt attacks targeting civilians and religious institutions. Furthermore, he urged the activation of international accountability mechanisms to deter such violations and to ensure that the perpetrators are brought to justice in accordance with international law.
