H.E. Sheikh Dr. Mohammed Alissa, Secretary-General of the Muslim World League (MWL) and Chairman of the Organization of Muslim Scholars, met with H.E. Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Afghanistan, in the Security Council Hall at the Presidential Palace.

During the meeting, various matters pertaining to Islamic solidarity were discussed, including the shared responsibility of conveying the true message of Islam to the world. Emphasis was placed on the religion’s core values of justice, the preservation of rights, and the principles of moderation and mercy for all. The discussion further highlighted Islam’s spirit of tolerance as expressed in the texts of the Holy Qur’an, the Sunnah of the Prophet, and the biography of the Prophet (peace be upon him), all of which must be reflected in the conduct of individuals and institutions alike.
One of the key challenges addressed was the divergence of opinions on general and critical matters where unity and consensus are of paramount importance. In this regard, the contents of the Charter Of Makkah and the Charter of Building Bridges between Islamic Schools of Thought and Sects were emphasized, along with the significant role of the Islamic Fiqh Council, affiliated with the MWL. As the oldest council of its kind, it continues to serve as a leading platform for bringing together prominent muftis and senior scholars from across the Muslim world.
Another challenge discussed was the persistence of entrenched customs and traditions that contradict Sharia in some Muslim societies—both within and beyond the Islamic world. The need for widespread Sharia awareness, rooted in wisdom and effective outreach, was emphasized to prevent the exploitation of these gaps by those—intentionally or inadvertently—who misrepresent Islam and fuel Islamophobic narratives and behavior.
In this context, H.E. Sheikh Dr. Al-Issa commended the efforts of the Government of Afghanistan in combating terrorist organizations and confronting extremist ideologies.
