Makkah:
The Muslim World League (MWL) has welcomed the decision of His Excellency the President of the French Republic to recognize the State of Palestine, as well as the forthcoming official announcement of this recognition at the United Nations General Assembly in September.
In a statement issued by the General Secretariat of the MWL, His Excellency Sheikh Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa, Secretary-General of the MWL and Chairman of the Organization of Muslim Scholars, praised this significant decision, describing it as a step in the right direction—reflecting a legitimate and responsible stance in support of the historical and legal rights of the Palestinian people, and a pathway toward achieving comprehensive, just, and lasting peace in the region.
His Excellency called upon other nations to follow the example of the French Republic in standing for truth, justice, and the defense of international legitimacy.
His Eminence also renewed his call for the international community to fulfill its responsibilities by taking immediate action to end the brutal war against civilians in the Gaza Strip and to support the Palestinian people’s right to establish their independent state along the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital, in accordance with the Arab Peace Initiative and relevant international resolutions.
