This morning, in the Malaysian capital, Kuala Lumpur, and in the presence of a number of senior scholars of the Islamic world, and under the patronage of H.E. the Malaysian Prime Minister:
H.E. Sheikh Dr. Mohammed Alissa, Secretary-General of the MWL and Chairman of the Organization of Muslim Scholars, inaugurated the activities of the First Forum for Fiqh Scholars titled "Teaching Islamic Fiqh and Cultivating the Faqih: Guiding Principles and Frameworks," and organized by the Islamic Fiqh Council, affiliated to the Muslim World League.
The event was attended by H.E. Sheikh Dr. Saleh bin Abdullah bin Humaid, Imam and Khatib of the Grand Mosque, and President of the International Islamic Fiqh Academy affiliated to the OIC, and H.E. Sheikh Ahmad Fawaz bin Fadel, Mufti of the Federal States of Malaysia. In addition, H.E. Sheikh Dr. Fahd bin Saad Al-Majid, Secretary-General of the Council of Senior Scholars in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Member of the Islamic Fiqh Council, and Chairman of its Sharia committee, delivered the speech on behalf of H.E. Sheikh Abdulaziz bin Abdullah Al Al-Sheikh, Grand Mufti of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Chairman of the Council of Senior Scholars, and President of the Islamic Fiqh Council, while also participating in the forum sessions.
The forum was also attended by a number of prominent muftis and fiqh scholars from across the Islamic world and countries with Muslim minorities.
The forum addressed important emerging issues in teaching the subject of Islamic fiqh, highlighting key guidelines and essential principles in cultivating the modern-day faqih.
