The Muslim World League Welcomes the Ceasefire Agreement Between the United States and Iran

Makkah:

The Muslim World League (MWL) has welcomed the announcement by His Excellency the President of the United States of America, Mr. Donald Trump, and His Excellency the Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Mr. Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, regarding the announcement of a ceasefire agreement between the United States and the Islamic Republic of Iran.

In a statement issued by the MWL’s General Secretariat, His Excellency Sheikh Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa, the Secretary-General of the MWL and Chairman of the Organization of Muslim Scholars, expressed—on behalf of the MWL and its global councils, bodies, and institutions—appreciation and support for the ongoing mediation efforts undertaken by the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, represented by the efforts of the Prime Minister, Mr. Shehbaz Sharif, and the Chief of Army Staff of Pakistan, Field Marshal Asim Munir. He expressed hope that this would culminate in a comprehensive and lasting agreement that achieves security and stability, and addresses decades of political conduct that have led to division and destabilization in the region.

His Excellency called on Iran to prioritize the interests of its people and spare them from risks of all kinds, and to act with a level of political awareness that reflects the true teachings of Islam, which guide toward wisdom. He noted that the word “peace,” with its profound impact on individual behavior, is a central concept in Islamic values and the civilizational approach—contrary to reckless actions that bring nothing but further losses and isolation from the Islamic and international community, especially among Muslim communities who will not accept the criminal aggressions Iran has committed against its peaceful neighbors. He further stated that targeting civilian entities exposes the falsity of Iranian justifications and confirms malicious intent, and that Iran stands at a historic turning point that means it must understand the profound consequences for its people, stability, and future—far from outdated illusions that lead only to dangerously severe outcomes.
