At the invitation of the Islamic Military Counter Terrorism Coalition, H.E. Sheikh Dr. Mohammed Al-Issa, Secretary General of the Muslim World League (MWL) and Chairman of the Organization of Muslim Scholars, visited the Coalition’s headquarters in Riyadh, where he was briefed on its missions and activities.
During the visit, H.E. delivered a lecture, at the Coalition’s request, entitled “A Reading into the Transformations of Contemporary Intellectual Ideology” to representatives of the member states.
During the lecture, H.E. addressed the trajectory of extremist ideology in the contemporary context, outlining its diversity on the international stage—across religious, intellectual, and political identities—and tracing its evolution, including both its transformations and its corrective or tactical revisions.
H.E. highlighted the essential foundations required to confront and address extremist ideology, including the principles of dialogue and debate—particularly in responding to the doubts raised by those affiliated with the Islamic interior or by others. He reviewed examples of various issues and matters that had been addressed through confrontation, dialogue, and debate, emphasizing in this context that the missing link in the international efforts undertaken lies in the effectiveness of the presentation—both in its substance and in the methods of its delivery.
The Chairman of the Organization of Muslim Scholars also addressed the phenomenon of Islamophobia, outlining its nature, examining its causes, and presenting examples of approaches to address it.
At the conclusion of the visit, H.E. noted the qualitative advancements achieved by the Coalition in pursuing its core objectives. On behalf of the scholars of the Islamic Ummah, including the members of the MWL in its international councils, bodies, and assemblies, he commended the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for its role in establishing and supporting the Coalition—describing it as a gift from the Kingdom to the Islamic Ummah and to all humanity.
H.E. added: “The best evidence of the above is the breadth and weight of the members from Islamic countries, along with the supporting countries from other major nations, which attests to the Kingdom’s exceptional ability to mobilize alliances and unify efforts for such strategic goals—goals that serve to unite the Islamic Ummah’s voice on its major issues, as well as contribute effectively to global peace and the harmony of national societies.”
